Joe B. Miller Wins Micros in the 25th Knepper Memorial

Belleville, IL – Taking to the high-banked Belle-Clair Speedway for the 25th Annual Knepper Memorial, Joe B. Miller took the checkers over a relentless Slater Helt for his 25th career POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series main event, placing him at a tie with Dereck King on the all-time win list. Starting on the pole, this would be no easy feat for Miller as Slater Helt pressured from the drop of the green flag, closely followed by Weldon, Illinois’s Garrett Duff. A mix of action and racing lines, Miller worked both the top and the bottom sides of the high-banked Belle-Clair Speedway, while Helt relentlessly railed the top side. Duff on the other hand, worked the bottom side, trading positions with Helt around the halfway point. As the laps wound down, Miller would cross the finish line first, Helt in second, and Garrett Duff took third. Nathan Benson finished …

Thorson Goes Down as 25th Knepper Memorial Champion

Belleville, IL – On a hammer-down, running above the cushion Belle-Clair Speedway, it would be Minden, Nevada’s own Tanner Thorson finding his way into victory lane at the conclusion of the 30 lap POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series main event honoring the legendary Arnie Knepper. Grabbing the lead ten laps in from Andy Malpocker, Thorson had to deflect a hard charging Austin Brown who was the first car to attempt running above the tall cushion on the board walls, moving all the way to the second position and challenging for the lead before the caution on lap 20. Returning to racing, Thorson jumped to the extreme high side and began working his Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports Toyota-powered Bullet above the curb. With 10 short laps left, teammate Spencer Bayston running in the third position closed in on Brown, but the action was slowed for the final caution with five to …

The series returns to action Thursday at Springfield Raceway BELLEVILLE, Ill. – June 30, 2016 – After rare bad luck at Clarksville Speedway on Tuesday night, Bobby Pierce rebounded on Wednesday to win at Belle-Clair Speedway and claim his sixth DIRTcar Summer Nationals victory of the season. Jason Feger looked to be the driver to beat early as he tried for his first Summer Nationals victory of the season. On the green, he jumped ahead of Ryan Unzicker. Through the opening laps, Unzicker tried to run down Feger and nearly had him when a caution flag flew. After the caution, Feger pulled away as Pierce battled into third and then began challenging Unzicker for second. Through traffic, the top three stayed tight and Pierce was able to take over second on lap 30. On a restart with 10 laps remaining, Pierce took his shot. Feger bobbled on the back straight …

CLICK HERE FOR MORE PHOTOS FROM BELLE-CLAIR SPEEDWAY! Belleville, IL- Minden, Nevada native Tanner Thorson claimed the opening night of Illinois SPEED Week for the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series at Belle-Clair Speedway. Swooping in and stealing the lead on lap nine and never looking back, Thorson chose the long way around and put his Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports entry up on the fence for the win. Starting inside, second row, Thorson would have to chase down pole-sitter Zach Daum and second place runner Jake Neuman for the initial eight laps. By lap three Thorson would move past Neuman for second and work to reel in Daum. The caution Thorson needed happened in the form of misfortune for teammate Holly Shelton, as Shelton looped her machine off turn four bringing out the initial yellow of the evening. On the restart, Andrew Felker would end up spun in the middle of …

Belleville, IL– Andrew Peters of Converse, Indiana wired the field to capture his first POWRi Speedway Motors 600cc Outlaw Micro Series feature victory of 2016 on the opening night of Illinois SPEED Week at Belle-Clair Speedway. Starting on the pole of the 20 lap main, Peters barely edged Nathan Benson for the lead on the opening lap. Dodging several slide job attempts in the early goings, Peters worked to maintain a solid rhythm only for the red to fly on lap three for Matt Howard and Steven Shebester on the front stretch. Returning to green, Peters worked to put distance between himself and the rest of the field as he built momentum on the high side of the high banked Belle-Clair Speedway. Peters saw one more yellow to slow his charge to victory lane as Kameron Key came to a stop on …
